Forget about the Oscars and waste no time with the Grammys, there’s only one event worth attending this years and its more competitive than Sir Alan Sugar’s The Apprentice – Yes, it’s time for the 2009 A4U Affiliate Marketing Awards

Affiliate marketing and behavioural targeting

March 13, 2009  |  Affiliate Marketing  |  3 Comments

Something that caught my eye earlier today was Matt Wood’s post on Behavioural Retargeting and whether or not Affiliates should still get a slice of the action if the consumer has been targeted following a visit to an affiliate site. Is one taking advantage of the other or is it all fair game?

hp fail

Part of my role here at Mediaedge is to continually review competitor affiliate programmes and benchmark our own clients against industry standards. This morning I was doing just that and was taking a look at the Hewlett Packard affiliate programme on TD when I spotted this little beauty...

Fake twitters pt.2

March 11, 2009  |  Affiliate Marketing  |  2 Comments

Interesting article surrounding the fake twitter accounts that are springing up everywhere on NMA today which is in line with the exact issues I mentioned in my last fake twitter accounts post (albeit with from an affiliate angle). Interesting also to see some familiar faces such as Chris Bishop from House of Fraser who I had used as an example of what may be a fake account. Chris faces a problem shared by many...

Affiliates hijacking Merchants twitter accounts

March 7, 2009  |  Affiliate Marketing  |  No Comments

Should Merchants and Brand owners be concerned that affiliates could “Brandjack” their twitter accounts? If you don’t know what I mean let me rewind a little… The whole twitter explosion over the past months has been an interesting one to watch as a spectator but even better if like me you’ve been a twit member for a while and have been happily tweeting away.

Remove TradeDoubler

Remove TradeDoubler

March 7, 2009  |  Affiliate Networks  |  2 Comments

I’m sure I can’t be the only one to have noticed this but have you seen the sponsored links on the keyword “tradedoubler” lately? It’s a pretty alarming headline from a company with the call to arms “Remove Tradedoubler” If I were Tradedoubler I’d be looking to have this removed asap as it’s hardly the way potential affiliates, clients and visitors should be greeted when searching for the well known affiliate network. Admittedly there’s not much that can be done other than perhaps a cease and desist or maybe a quiet word in Google’s ear but still, at lease run your own ad as a counter measure in the mean time.

No it’s not your eyes playing tricks on you, I am actually back from the depths of the blogging abyss and boy does it feel weird. It’s been a massive 7 months since my last post, which was written way back in June 08. Why the long absence?

How to spot your website getting hacked with Google Alerts

July 7, 2008  |  General  |  7 Comments

So I was browsing some affiliate websites today when I noticed that Kieron’s UKOffer website had been hacked (either that or he was trying super hard to push dodgy drugs!) More specifically his site had fallen foul of some kind of keyword injection promoting the drug phentermine which is an attack that’s rife in wordpress land at the moment.

Super Affiliate Jamie Harwood Interview

Super Affiliate Jamie Harwood Interview

July 2, 2008  |  Affiliate Marketing  |  No Comments

Having just landed in my inbox I though I’d pass on and share a Jamie Harwood (UK Web Media) Interview recently conducted by e-consultancy. It’s an easy read touching on recent Google changes, the move away from last click wins to multi cookie. No mention of him ranking above Keira Knightley, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lewis Hamilton in this years Sunday Times Rich List though which still makes me chuckle :D
