Tracking affiliate links with Live HTTP Headers

If I had a “tool of the week” award it would definitely go to the Live HTTP headers plug in for the firefox browser.

So what does it do?

Well, in non techy speak it allows me to record and track the different URLs and variables that often flash before my eyes in the status bar. This then allows me to back track, dig deep and find the info I’m looking for.

Bogus Affiliates From India… Grrr

Can somebody please explain to me why some many fraudulent applications to affiliate programs originate from India? I hate to make such a broad sweeping allegation but speaking from personal experience as an affiliate manager of many affiliate programs I know this to be true.

Petition against the Commission Junction Link Management Initiative

Commission Junction certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons when they announcement in their CJ Link Management Initiative that all standard affiliate links will be switched over to Javascript come June 23rd 2006.

The good points and bad points are being thrashed out in huge quantities though blogs, industry forums, and now Scott Jangro has personally taken it upon him to put up a petition fighting the change and will even hand deliver it to CJ headquarters, Massachusetts.

Google Trends For Affiliates

At times it does seem that Google can’t last five minutes without launching some kind of tool, program, application to “enhance” our lovely little world. Normally they are good for a day or two whilst you tell your mates about it and try and figure out exactly how this new gizmo is supposed to make life easier… and here in lies the problem, they usually don’t.
