What do you call 474 people sailing down the river Thames?
A flipping good turn out for an affiliate get2gether that’s what! The response for the latest affiliate get2gether which takes place in London next Friday has been phenomenal. Total figures are reported to be 474 attendees spanning all walks of affiliate marketing life, whether it be Merchant, Network, Affiliate or Agency. Despite the controversial introduction of staggered signup fees nobody seems to have been put off. Only those without sea legs seem to have been caught out… have I mention this is taking place on board a luxurious replica of a 19th century Mississippi Paddleboat?
Previous events have all been of a very high quality and in general an excellent day has been had by all. Sadly however, some still feel the need to pick faults. Amongst certain camps there have been complaints of a lack of affiliate numbers, too many network staff present, not enough booze and other such gripes. This time however things seem to be spot on.
Whilst some complain about the fees I believe they have actually helped the situation. Affiliates (who pay the least) have signed up in their droves, networks (paying the most) have selected their representatives wisely and not sent down “the army”. And let’s not forget the most important point… the cost of hosting such an event, the time and effort spent organising it and the opportunity to talk to almost 500 like minded industry folk is worth significantly more than the entry fee.
The boat itself may well explain the strong turn out. In it’s heyday this was Stockholm’s favourite nightclub and was often frequented buy the younger members of their royal family. With two exquisitely furnished floors, both with silver service dining facilities, a cocktail bar and a dance floor this is in my opinion set to be the best affiliate get2gether yet.
